Civilian Casualty and Damage
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a nine-story residential building was hit with Russian missiles, among which was civilian death including some children. The BBC says that the attacks killed at least 10 people so far.

US greenlights long-range missiles for Ukraine
After recent escalations Ukraine was permitted to receive long-range missiles from the United States. American officials, in the New York Times said, Ukraine can be used with the Army Tactical Missile System ATACMS – missiles that range 300 kilometers or 186 miles and would be headed toward the Russians and North Korean groups.
This is part of President Joe Biden’s strategy to strengthen Ukraine’s defense ahead of the presidential transition to Donald Trump, should he assume the position. North Korea deepening its relationship with Russia only added fuel to the fire that urged the US to greenlight these advanced weapons.
Putin’s Warning Against NATO Involvement
Russian President Vladimir Putin “strongly condemned” the US decision, warning that it would mean direct involvement by NATO if Ukraine is allowed to use long-range missiles. Putin said,
“Such actions will have grave consequences, and Russia will respond appropriately.”
Putin also observed that the systems require high training techniques only available in NATO with the introduction of such weapons, meaning a more serious deployment by NATO when these weapons are used.
Ukraine’s Response: So Far No Confirmations
Despite the media reports, President Zelenskyy declined confirming the green light for the long-range missiles. He said while responding to the rumors,
“Actions speak louder than words, and such decisions are rarely disclosed publicly.”

The Russia-Ukraine conflict began on February 24, 2022, when Russian forces crossed the borders of Ukraine. By the November 9, 2024 date, the war would have completed 1,000 days of intense battles, economic shocks, and humanitarian disasters.
Global Impact and the G20 Summit
