Hanoi, Vietnam Travel Diary: A Day of Adventure, Culture & Fun
Hanoi, the heart of Vietnam, welcomed us with its vibrant streets, rich history, and festive spirit. Our journey through the city was nothing short of magical, filled with scenic boat rides, cultural discoveries, and thrilling experiences. Here’s how our day unfolded!
Boat Ride at Mega World – Venice in Vietnam
Our first stop was Mega World, a stunning modern complex that felt like a slice of Venice. A beautiful lake surrounded by colorful apartments set the perfect backdrop for a relaxing boat ride. Drifting through the water, we captured breathtaking views, making it one of the most picturesque spots in Hanoi, Vietnam. It was a serene yet captivating experience, just like being in Venice!
Missed Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum – A Dress Code Reminder!
Next, we headed towards the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, a must-visit historical landmark. However, due to my short clothes, we weren’t allowed to enter. If you’re planning a visit, ensure you dress modestly—covering shoulders and knees is required. Since we couldn’t explore it, we decided to move on to our next adventure.
Lotte Aquarium – A Dive into the Underwater World
We then visited the Lotte Aquarium, located inside Lotte Mall. It was a mesmerizing experience, featuring a wide variety of sea creatures like jellyfish, starfish, and more. The highlight was the 20-minute mermaid show, where performers swam gracefully among the sea animals. We also enjoyed some delicious ice cream before heading out to explore Hanoi, Vietnam on foot.
Hanoi’s Walking Tour – Pagodas, Lakes & History
Walking through Hanoi’s streets, we reached a beautiful pagoda located in the center of a large lake. Inside, we saw a huge turtle statue, which plays a significant role in Vietnam’s history, especially during the wars. The peaceful ambiance and spiritual aura made it a worthwhile visit.
Water Puppet Show – A Traditional Art Form
In the evening, we attended the Water Puppet Show, a famous Vietnamese cultural performance. While we couldn’t understand much due to the language barrier, the artistry and puppetry were impressive. It’s a must-experience for those who want to witness Vietnam’s traditional entertainment.
Gujarati Indian Dinner & Train Street Adventure
For dinner, we walked 15 minutes from our hotel to a Gujarati Indian restaurant. The comforting taste of Indian food was perfect after a long day of exploration.
Our final stop was the legendary Train Street, one of Hanoi’s most famous attractions. As we walked along the railway tracks, we explored cafés on both sides, filled with excited travelers. When we heard that a train was approaching, we quickly grabbed a table and enjoyed a cold chocolate drink. Soon, the train rushed past us, just inches away, creating an unforgettable, thrilling experience.
